Road near Sandbach closed for several hours after commerical premises caught fire

Police have reopened a road in Smallwood after a commercial premises caught fire.  

 

Numerous fire engines went to the scene in Church Lane, Smallwood near the A50 at 9.50 am today (Friday).  

 

Police closed the road and didn't reopen it until 4.30 pm but a cordon is still in place around the scene. 

 

Firefighters used a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots and dampened the area down where necessary.  

 

Relief pumps were also brought in this afternoon to help out at the scene. One fire engine from Sandbach, another from Congleton, one from Holmes Chapel, one fire engine from Lymm and an aerial ladder platform from Lymm we used.  

 

Two fire engines from Crewe, one fire engine from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service, another from Middlewich and one from Audlem.  

 

Firefighters are using a thermal imaging camera to check for hot spots and dampening down where necessary.  

 

Relief pumps had been brought in over this afternoon to rotate with firefighters from Crewe and Lymm.
