A Nub News reader has highlighted traffic concerns following a serious collision this week fuelling the debate over the deluge of new housing applications in Sandbach.

The reader, who wishes to remain anonymous, says Sandbach's roads are already "bursting at the seams" and the traffic infrastructure won't be able to cope with any more vehicles.

Their comments come as Cheshire East has given the go-ahead for up to 180 homes off Bradwall Road near Sandbach Rugby Club and campaigns are launched to fight two other housing plan appeals - one for up to 325 homes on The Hill and the other 160 homes and a 70-bed care home off Crewe Road.

On Wednesday (25 February), one of the main roads in Sandbach was closed for several hours in both directions due to a crash between a motorbike and a car with the motorcylist seriously injured as we reported here

The reader said: "The serious RTA this week is yet another reason Sandbach can't cope with any more houses and the resulting increase in cars on the roads. I hope the motorcyclist is ok.

"The main alternative route via Hind Heath Road to Sandbach was blocked up due to the volume of traffic. The proposal to build almost 1000 houses down there should definitely not be passed.

"Then of course there is the added problem of potholes and damaged road surfaces all around. Perhaps we need a peaceful protest to show that we are serious about this situation?

"We are all proud of Sandbach but if all the proposed developments get passed it will be absolute mayhem."
