A booming Sandbach artisan coffee business celebrated its first birthday today (Tuesday) – and it hasn't ruled out expanding further.

Blackwater & Grubb owners opened up The House in Congleton Road a year ago today.

The business was originally just a mobile artisan coffee van in Sandbach Park launched during COVID.

But the idea was such a success, that the Evans family spilled out into permanent premises, taking over the premises of the former Peppers coffee shop, as well as continuing with their van in the park.

And now, one year on, Pete Evans, who launched the business with wife Mandy and family, says one day the Blackwater & Grubb name might appear elsewhere.

"We haven't ruled out expanding into another town but it's a case of finding the right premises and the right town," said Pete.

"We've settled into knowing the business here and what is needed but we're always looking at new ideas.

"I don't think we knew how successful we would be here and we're so grateful for all the support from our loyal customers which we've had."

Since opening The House on October 11th last year, Blackwater & Grubb has taken on more staff to cope with the growing demand.

Sophie Plant has joined The House team part-time and customers couldn't be happier with the friendly atmosphere and warm welcome at they receive each time they visit.

Coffee lover, Kay Hind, from Wheelock visits the business about twice a week.

"It's a brilliant place to come. I've been coming here since they opened. Their sausage rolls are delicious,"  said Kay.
