A Sandbach coffee shop business which was bourne out of Covid has been nominated for two categories in this year's Nantwich Food awards.

Blackwater & Grubb, who run 'The House' on Congleton Road and the mobile van in Sandbach Park, are up for the Best Café /Coffee shop and the Best Newcomer.

Sandbach Nub News told how https://sandbach.nub.news/news/local-news/the-house-is-where-the-home-is-for-sandbach39s-newest-coffee-shop the growing business had opened 'The House' in the former Peppers coffee shop building in October last year.

We told how Peter Evans and his wife Mandy originally launched the business as a mobile artisan coffee shop in Sandbach Park during Covid.

The idea was such a success that the business grew and opened the Congleton Road   premises which has gone from strength to strength.

Alex Demain, head of operations at Blackwater & Grubb, said: "We're delighted to be nominated for this year's Nantwich Food awards.

"We set out to be a brand that is closely involved with its community and we're honoured to have been nominated."

Voting opened on June 6th for the awards and closes on September 4th. Blackwater & Grubb will have to wait until October to hear whether they have won or not.

Winners in each category will be announced at the Nantwich Food Awards ceremony at the Civic Hall in October.

Votes for Blackwater & Grubb can be placed through https://www.nantwichfoodfestival.co.uk/food-awards-voting-2022/.

The awards are part of Nantwich Food Festival. A spokesperson said: "This year's festival is going to be bigger than ever and the interest in the Food Awards is growing every year.

"Good luck in the voting!"

The news comes hot on the heels of Blackwater & Grubb sponsoring the Winsford Over 3, Under 8s football team.

Sandbach Nub News told last week https://sandbach.nub.news/news/local-news/sandbach-coffee-business-brews-up-success-helping-a-young-footbtall-team-143022 how the popular coffee shop, which has run a mobile coffee van in Sandbach Park for nearly two years, took the van, named 'Frankie' to present the new kits.
