A Sandbach businessman is celebrating after his 31-year-old daughter looks set to have taken the record for the fastest woman to swim across Lake Geneva.

Carl Farrow, who helps runs Done N Dusted and Miola in Sandbach and Holmes Chapel with partner Louise, pictured below, used to take his talented daughter Sam Farrow swimming in Wigan five days a week.

Now the mum-of-two, an endurance swimmer, has swum the length of Lake Geneva from the Chateau de Chillon to the Bains des Paquis – 45.2 miles in 22 hours and 48 minutes - the fastest woman to date.

Carl told Nub News: "She's always been a very good open water swimmer as well as a pool swimmer and has won lots of medals.

"She's been swimming since she was aged three – she's an amazing woman and a great mum.

"She swam three Scottish lakes last year and has achieved so much but this is amazing. I stayed up until about 2 am to watch her on a tracker attached to the boat.

"We're so very proud of her and all she has achieved. Sam has already started planning future swims."

Carl's daughter lives in the Wigan area and brother Daniel aged 32 was also a competitive swimmer.

"Sam has done amazingly well. When we opened Miola in Holmes Chapel she came to help us," said Carl.

"She's got a very positive mindset and just keeps going."

"She's an open water coach and loves teaching others. Swimming is her passion and always has been.

"She's also looking for a sponsor to help her with future events like the Lake Geneva one so if there's any Cheshire firms who would like to sponsor her, get in touch!"
