Elworth Grange care home, based near Sandbach, is offering local people the opportunity to design their official 2020 Christmas card and be in with a chance to win £100 of high-street shopping vouchers.

The competition encourages people from the the local area to draw, paint or even photograph a design for Christmas card in line with a poignant 'Christmas Spirit' theme.

Elworth Grange residents will judge the entries during a glittering Christmas card gallery evening where the winner will be chosen. The cards will then be printed, ready to send to relatives and friends.

One of the homes first residents, 90-year-old Jean Smith, said: "With everything that is going on with the current pandemic, I think it is fantastic that the team have come up with such a fun and creative idea to spread some Christmas joy around the community. I can't wait to see all of the submissions and help to pick our winner."

Front of House Manager and driving force for the contest, Frankie Durrant, said: "It is more important now than ever to get into the community Christmas spirit, and this is such a lovely activity to do at home with the kids.

"Our team and residents have officially joined the 'hype' and put our tree and decorations up early this year, so I can't wait to begin the festive season activities, starting with handwriting our official cards to our residents loved ones."

The closing date for the contest is 30 November and all submissions can be sent directly to the Booth Lane home with a note detailing the artists name, age and what they think 'Christmas spirit' means to them.
