Sandbach residents came together to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

A large crowd gathered at the War Memorial yesterday (Sunday, November 9) for the annual Remembrance Sunday service.

They included the parents and brother of the Sandbach British soldier, Jordan Gatley, who died fighting alongside the Ukrainian forces against Russian invaders in 2022.

The service followed the parade through the town which this year started at Sandbach School in Crewe Road.

The procession included cadets, military veterans, local dignitaries and Scout groups.

Upon arrival at the war memorial, those in attendance observed the national two-minute silence at 11am.

Following this, wreaths were laid by the likes of MP Sarah Russell and Sandbach Mayor, Councillor John Arnold.

Wreaths were also laid on behalf of various groups such as the Sandbach branch of the Royal British Legion, the Ladies Probus Club, Girlguiding Sandbach, Saxon Crosses Masons.
