Students across Cheshire East have received their GCSE and vocational qualification results, marking the end of a significant chapter in their education.

Provisional data shows that 67 per cent of pupils achieved a 'standard pass' or higher in combined GCSE English and maths, with 44 per cent attaining a 'strong pass'.

Results for vocational technical qualifications (VTQs) will be published later in the autumn.

Councillor Laura Crane, chair of Cheshire East Council's children and families committee, said: "It's incredibly rewarding to see so many students across Cheshire East celebrating the results of their hard work and commitment. As a corporate parent, I'm also pleased to see many of our cared for children reaching this milestone.

"These achievements also reflect the dedication of teachers, parents and carers, whose support has been vital throughout each student's journey. I wish all our young people every success as they take their next steps into further education, training or employment. Well done and enjoy what's left of the summer."

Schools are offering support and advice on next steps based on students' results. Young people can also contact the council's youth support service by visiting www.cheshireeast.gov.uk and searching for 'youth support'.

Young people and their families can also find local support for mental health and wellbeing on the Cheshire East Council website.
