Cricket clubs are coming to terms with the news today that not one but two of Australia's most famous cricketers have died.

Shane, 52, the legendary Australian spin bowler, has died of a suspected heart attack in Thailand.

His death comes just hours after news that former Australia wicket keeper and England selector, Rod Marsh, had passed away aged 74.

Shane tweeted how sad he was to hear about Rod's death just hours before he died himself.

"Shane was a true cricketing legend who gave cricket-lovers so many wonderful memories, even though he was often taking English wickets," Paul Colman, chairman of Sandbach Cricket Club told Sandbach Nub News.

"Who can ever forget the ball of the century which got England batsman Mike Gatting out? None of us had ever seen anything like that. It was amazing.

"Genius is a word that is often over-used in the world of sport as is legend, but both apply to Shane.

"He will be truly missed by the cricketing community, but the memories of his performances will live on and will be part of cricket's history forever.

"It's such a sad day for Australian cricket as we have lost two great people."
