Sandbach deputy mayor receives prestigious certificate on behalf of the North Staffordshire Symphony Orchestra

Sandbach deputy mayor, Councillor Sam Corcoran, has paid homage to the part an orchestra plays in the life of Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding area.
Cllr Corcoran, President of the North Staffordshire Symphony Orchestra, received a Certificate of Recognition of Service to the city presented at the orchestra's centenary concert at the King's Hall.
At the end of the centenary concert, Cllr Sam Corcoran, said: "Thank you to everyone attending the concert celebrating the centenary of the City of Stoke-on-Trent.
"The North Staffordshire Symphony has been contributing to the cultural life of this area for 120 years. Mr Lord Mayor, I hope that this evening we have made you proud of this magnificent city and its culture."

The orchestra, conducted by Joe Hearson and led by Helen Corcoran, performed pieces with Stoke links, including Walton's Spitfire Prelude, with Reginald Mitchell's grandson as an honoured guest, a piece by Stoke composer Havergal Brian, along with a poem set to music and performed by Stoke's Centenary Poet Laureate Nick Degg.
The next concert features Gilbert and Sullivan songs and is being held jointly with the Ceramic City Choir on 1st November at the King's Hall in Stoke-on-Trent.
