Sandbach has a new mayor and deputy mayor for 2026/27

A new mayor and deputy mayor have been sworn in for Sandbach.
Outgoing mayor, Councillor John Arnold handed over the chains to Councillor Sam Corcoran at a mayor making ceremony at Sandbach Town Hall last night (Wednesday).
Former leader of Cheshire East Council and Sandbach Heath and East councillor, Sam Corcoran, was elected as town mayor for the year 2026/27.
Councillor Mark Mitchell was sworn in as deputy mayor.
The ceremony was attended by mayors from other towns as well as the Mayor of Cheshire East, Councillor Judy Snowball.
Outgoing mayor, Cllr Arnold, told the mayor making ceremony that the town council can be proud of what it had achieved this year.
"We have a vibrant and well-run council. What a treat and privilege it has been to be mayor."
Cllr Corcoran, who has been a councillor for 19 years and is passionate about climate change, said Sandbach was a "fantastic town with an amazing community spirit".
Cllr Corcoran has chosen Foden's Band and Sandbach Pantry as his two charities for the year.
