A major working document helping to shape the future of the town is rolling forward and interested parties still have a chance to take part.

A public event was held at Sandbach Town Hall earlier this week to display the latest minor tweeks to the Sandbach Neighbourhood Development Plan.

There is an obligation to review the plan every five years and Sandbach Neighbourhood working group, made up of members of Sandbach Town Council and the community, is one of the first in Cheshire East to do this.

The changes, tweeking wording to bring it up to date, have been incorporated into the plan which is open for public consultation until August 1st.

Sandbach is made up of five distinct areas – Sandbach Town, Sandbach Heath, Elworth, Ettiley Heath and Wheelock and the plan covers all of these areas.

John Minshall, a member of the working group, said the review has highlighted any wording which was "vague" and is designed to ensure the blueprint is as up-to-date as possible.

He said: "It's very much a people's document. We have been reviewing changes for some time."

The review will go through the next formal stages, which include submission to Cheshire East Council and eventually a Government inspector.

Sandbach Town councillor Steve Kirkham, chairman of Sandbach Neighbourhood working group, thanked the group for their hard work in bringing it to this next stage.

He said: "Hours of work have gone into this document ensuring we get it right."
