Three judo players from Sandbach are heading out to Prague today (Friday) to take part in a European competition.

Gareth Latham and Robin Sadler, both coaches at Sandbach Judo Club and Martin Barrie from Sandbach but trains with another club, are all competing in the Prague Open Masters competition.

They have all been training hard for the event and between them have lost 7.1 stone in weight in nine weeks to compete in the contest.

Sandbach Judo Club where Gareth and Robin are based. The club meets at St Mary's Church Hall in Sandbach.

Robin said: "We're excited but nervous. It's the first time we've competed abroad and have trained hard for this.

"We fly out today then weigh in tomorrow and compete tomorrow before flying back on Sunday."

Robin and Martin are both 2nd Dan while Gareth is 1st Dan and will be representing Great Britain in the event.

Sandbach Nub News wishes them all the best for the competition. Good luck!
