Mayor of Sandbach Councillor Geraint Price Jones and his consort Christina Price Jones got in the swim of things when they helped a swimming group celebrate its belated 50th anniversary.

The mayor and his wife went along to Aquarius Swimming Club who meet on Monday nights at Sandbach School to celebrate their 50th anniversary.

The club's half century anniversary was last year but it was delayed due to Covid and held recently instead.

Cllr Price Jones and his wife met members of Aquarius along with its organiser, Alan Welch to hear about the benefits of the club whose members range from 18 to 80.

Cllr Price Jones said: "The club should have celebrated its 50th anniversary last year but was unable to do so due to Covid.

"The club kept in touch with its members over the Covid period but is now enjoying the return of all its members that are from local areas to Sandbach.

"It was great to speak to many of the members as they got out of the pool. The club clearly benefits so many."

Aquarius Swimming Sandbach is a non-profit organisation offering non-competitive swimming with the emphasis based on the healthy benefits of swimming and exercise alongside the chance to meet new friends.
