Sandbach Mayor heaps praise on new King following today's official proclamation
Sandbach Mayor, Councillor Kathryn Flavell, has heaped praise on the new King and said he would be warmly welcomed if they ever he wanted to visit Sandbach.
Cllr Flavell praised King Charles III's passion for the environment and his work with young people through the Prince's Trust and said he has the makings of a good King.
"He's in touch with what people need and has done so much for young people."
Her comments follow Sandbach's service on The Cobbles for the official proclamation announcing the succession of King Charles III.
Massive crowds gathered and a selection of musicians played at the event which was followed by bells peeling from nearby St Mary's Church.
Cllr Flavell, standing near the famous Saxon Crosses, said it was an historic occasion – the first time in 70 years and it was a proud moment for the town.
Speaking after the event, Cllr Flavell said she would love the new King to visit Sandbach.
"The Queen stopped here once on the Royal train but Charles has never visited Sandbach. It would be lovely to see him here."
