Local resident and Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire, Joelle Warren, has paid homage to the Queen following her death.

Joelle said the Queen was a role-model of service, humility, generosity and deep faith. Her comments come following Joelle's appearance at yesterday's official proclamation in Sandbach announcing the succession of King Charles III.

"It's been an honour to serve her as Vice Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire for the last 12 years and with that has come the privilege of meeting her on a number of occasions and to see the joy she has brought to the people she has met," said Joelle.

"On a walkabout, whether at Chester Zoo, Orford Park in Warrington or the Storyhouse Theatre, people would throng to see her and to each person she gave that amazing smile so that you felt like you were the centre of her attention for that special time, she brought joy.

"She connected with and was interested in each person she met.

"She set an example of service for us all to follow, whether in our work, our community, our families or broader society.

"Before her Coronation, she asked people to pray that God would give her wisdom and strength to carry out the solemn promises she would be making, and that she would faithfully serve Him and us, all the days of her life.

"That prayer was clearly answered, and we owe her enormous gratitude.

"My thoughts and prayers are with the King and his family in their loss and also with our nation and the world as we mourn the loss of our Queen."
