It's officially Halloween today but crowds celebrated the spooky occasion at the weekend – thanks to voluntary, community-led organisation, the Sandbach Partnership.

And now the organisation, which has a website here , has launched a Crowdfunder appeal to ensure the event happens next year.

Anne-Marie Robinson, Vice-Chair of Sandbach Partnership and organiser of Spooky Saturday said: 'It was amazing to see so many people enjoying all the activities on offer.

"The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement, its these types of events that make Sandbach a great place to live."

The popular event took place on Saturday (October 28th) between 3pm and 6pm on the cobbles and in St Mary's Church Hall.

Featuring a range of activities and entertainment for all the family, residents of Sandbach were treated to street theatre by Saxon Players together with a backdrop of music and fancy dress.

The Saxon Players performed street theatre especially for the event with a short play called 'The Worthless Witches of Wheelock'.

Free activities were available for all to enjoy including face painting, create your own slime, apple bobbing and a toy swap shop.

The event also featured other member organisations of the Partnership, with Sandbach Clean Team hosting witch hat hoopla, Sandbach Animal Rescue holding a tombola and hook a prize and Cheshire Arts for Health (Sandbach Art Room) had a whole host of crafts including spray paint art.

The Partnership is a voluntary, community-led organisation working with local groups and statutory bodies to enhance the quality of life for the benefit of the people of Sandbach and the surrounding area.

The Partnership bids for funding from Local Councils and other funding bodies for projects and events that benefit the community.

Anne-Marie Robinson added: "Spooky Saturday requires funding for 2024. If you enjoyed the 2023 event and would like to see it return next year please contribute."
