A Sandbach pub which has been closed for nearly two years is after a new publican.

The Rookery Tavern in Elton Road, Ettiley Heath is being offered by Star Pubs with an annual rent of £21.767.

It is described on their website here as a "warm, friendly local pub".

The description says: "The Rookery Tavern is a quaint little pub situated in the heart of the thriving community of Elworth surrounded by chimney pots.

"With a great reputation of being a well-supported local finished to a very high standard, The Rookery Tavern can be found in a densely populated area with a catchment of over 4,048 adults within a 20-minute walk time of the pub.

"The current offer primarily consists of draught drink sales with a quality range of ales, beers and ciders and is complimented by a freshly prepared home cooked food offering that accommodates 60 covers.

"To extend and enhance the visit of your guests a range of entertainment is suitable with live music, open mic night along with Live Sports and traditional pub games."

The Rookery Tavern closed in October 2022 after live-in manager, Jess Scarlett, who ran the premises with partner, Alvin Khumalo, decided she could no longer carry on.

A combination of the price of energy bills and a "dramatic" reduction in customers were cited as the reasons for closing as we revealed here
