It was a weekend for remembering – with various ceremonies not only on Sunday but also Saturday in Sandbach.

The traditional Armistice Day ceremony took place in front of a large crowd at the Cenotaph on The Cobbles.

It was followed by a special dedication to the memorial bench for the 24-year-old Sandbach soldier, Jordan Gatley, killed in the Ukraine, as we revealed here

Mayor of Sandbach, Councillor Laura Crane then went on to Sandbach Town Hall to lay a wreath for at memorial to Sandbach's warship, HMS Vimiera.

Ninety-three men lost their lives in the sinking of HMS Vimiera, which had been adopted by the people of Sandbach as part of wartime efforts and which the town raised a significant amount of money for.

Sandbach Nub News told here how Sandbach town councillors agreed to set up a permanent display for HMS Vimiera after a plaque was found at Sandbach Town Hall.

On Sunday (November 12th) the town was again in the spotlight with the annual Remembrance parade led through town by none other than a luxury car from Bentley at Crewe - poppy covered Bentley!

Sandbach Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal organiser, Majorie Newton and president, Tom Price-Jones rode in the Bentley through town.

The parade marched from Westfields in Middlewich Road with Roberts Bakery Band leading the parade followed by a two minute silence at Sandbach War Memorial.

Lions Brass Band were on the Market Square and the traditional Remembrance parade service took place at St Mary's Church.
