Sandbach Town Council is holding an event to support an effort across the county to reach Net Zero.

Put simply, net zero means cutting greenhouse gas emissions to as close to zero as possible, with any remaining emissions re-absorbed from the atmosphere.

This is something that councils across the country are striving to achieve, and a local council is launching the next stage of their campaign later this month.

As a part of Sandbach Town Council's efforts to start Net Zero Action in the town, the team are running a Solar Information Meeting at Sandbach Town Hall on 25th November - and a community scheme based out of a nearby town is joining the efforts.

The event is free and will host a variety of speakers on Solar related topics, and Cheshire East Council and Congleton Hydro will also be attending.

Congleton Hydro is a community run benefit scheme to produce renewable energy at Havannah Village, all profits are reinvested into the community.

Following some brief presentations about solar and renewable energy, attendees can chat informally with those already using solar to find out more about the impact that it has had on local lives and businesses.

Refreshments will be provided at the event.

Sandbach Town Council hope that this event will be the first of a series that will run through next year on various practical topics for our community to share how we can all make a contribution to the net zero challenge.

Councillor Tim Wheatcroft said: "The Council hope this event will be the first of a series that will run through next year on various practical topics for our community to share how we can all make a contribution to the net zero challenge."

The event takes place at 3:30pm on Saturday, 25th November at Sandbach Town Hall.
