Sandbach is gearing up again for its biggest annual event of the year – the two-day Sandbach Transport Festival.

Hundreds of people from all over the region visit the market town, once the home of ERF and Foden Trucks, for the popular event held every year in April.

And this year it's been revealed the popular Spitfire plane will be returning to the event as well the popular motor cycles and classic cars.

It takes place on Saturday and Sunday (April 20th and April 21st) and will feature a range of vehicles and activities and display of replica famous cars.

Sandbach town councillors voted in favour of a three-year deal to give the festival £20,000 each year from 2026 - 2028 at the Full Council meeting on Wednesday (March 6th). This year the event has received £18,000 in funding from the town council.

This year's event will once again feature the history of Sandbach and the role it has played in the transport industry with Foden and ERF trucks. The vehicles played a big part in last year's event as we revealed here and will once again play their part at the festival.

Elworth in Sandbach was the home of the British truck firm, Foden, which dates back to 1856. Paccar acquired the company in 1980, and ceased to use the marque name in 2006.

The area is also linked to ERF, a British truck manufacturer established in 1933 by Edwin Richard Foden, from whose initials the company was named .

On Saturday, there is a fully line-up of 'Music on the Cobbles' starting at 1.30 pm going through to 8.30 pm with various performers including Elton John and Freddie Mercury tribute acts (See poster below).

Festival organisers have thanked sponsors for this year's event which they say is going to be slightly different this year and a fundraising quiz night was held on Friday night (April 8th) which raised a bumper £650 for the event,

"On Saturday 20th April, we're switching up the schedule to celebrate the incredible history of Sandbach and the role it's played in the transport industry with Foden and ERF trucks," said a spokesperson.

"With a long history within the town and the production of the iconic trucks many will recognise, know and love, we can't wait to share with you a fantastic collection of vehicles, memorabilia and expertise."

Sandbach Nub News wishes festival organisers good luck in the rest of their planning for the event and can't wait to attend once more.
