1980s music lovers will be shedding a tear today, as the long-running Rewind Festival will not return to Macclesfield in 2025.

Held at Capesthorne Hall in Siddington since 2016, the retro music festival has seen headliners such as The Human League and Billy Ocean.

Big names such as Kim Wilde and Peter Hook have also performed at the Macclesfield music festival over the years.

Rewind as a whole has been going since 2009, and is also held down south and in Scotland.

Rewind organisers broke the sad news to Macclesfield Nub News.

"Rewind North will also not take place in 2025," said festival organisers.

"Capesthorne Hall have undertaken a review of their events and wedding business strategy and decided that, due to an upturn in the demand for wedding bookings in July and August, they can no longer be a home for Rewind or any large-scale camping festivals for 2025, or the foreseeable future.

"We know many of you will be disappointed with this news, but we're sure you'll join us in thanking Capesthorne Hall in Macclesfield for their hospitality and support over the past, fantastic Rewind years."

However, a new Rewind will come to Margate in Kent, next year.

Capesthorne Hall has been contacted for comment, but no reply has been received as of publication.

It is not all bad news for festival-lovers in Macc, as Bluedot Festival at the nearby Jodrell Bank will be back next year after a fallow year in 2024.
