Sandbach: road closed after hole in the road

A road on one of Sandbach's housing estates is currently closed while urgent repairs are carried out to a sewer.

A large hole appeared in the Adlington Drive and when investigations were carried out, a defect on the sewer 2.8 m below the surface was revealed.

A spokesman from United Utilities told Sandbach Nub News: "Unfortunately, the only way to repair the pipe safely at that depth means closing the road for a few days.

"The work started yesterday and we're maintaining access as much as we can. Due to the depth of the excavation, it will take a little time to fully re-instate the ground and the road surface but we expect everything to be back to normal on August 2."
