A Sandbach road which has been closed for work to water pipes is due to reopen shortly say United Utilities but further investigations are required.

Motorists will soon be able to use the bottom half of Platt Avenue which joins on to Middlewich Road near Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College.

United Utilities say they are due to be off site in Platt Avenue by the end of today (Wednesday) but further investigations are needed.

A spokesperson for United Utilities said: "Our teams have been working on Platt Avenue recently to enhance our network of water pipes in the area.

"They will be clear of site by the end of today (Wednesday 24th August), but unfortunately they have been unable to complete the work as further investigations are required.

"We thank local residents for their patience."
