Sandbach School has confirmed that the "vast majority" of its students have secured a place at university on A Level results day but it has not yet released any exam results.

And it has thanked parents who have supported their children through challenging times during the pandemic.

Headteacher Sarah Burns said "Staff and Governors would like to congratulate

Sandbach School Sixth Form students on the way they have conducted themselves and to also thank parents for their continued support.

"The hard work that the students have demonstrated throughout the last two years has helped to ensure that students have coped well with the extended assessment period."

The Crewe Road school says a wide range of subjects are being studied at university including Derek Chong reading Mathematics at Bath, Hannah Dernie reading Chemistry, Biological and medicinal Chemistry at the University of York, Cameron McGlincy reading International Relations and Politics at the University of Sheffield.

And a number of students have benefited from the school's legendary music department with a record number of students going on to study music at a range of

Conservatoires.

The school is hoping next year even more will follow this path thanks to the introduction of the Specialist Music Course which has links to the Royal Northern College of Music.

Head Boy, Harvey Finnegan, will be going to study PPE (Philosophy, Politics and Economics) at the University of Durham.

He said: "The results are more than just a grade, they embody the unprecedented challenges faced over the past two years from online learning, uncertainty over exams,

and endless disruption.

"I would like to thank all the students and staff that have played

such a crucial role on this 7-year journey.

"We have developed on so many fronts over this time and I

wish everyone the best of luck as they go onto the next chapter".

Meanwhile Deputy Head Girl, Charlotte Collier, has secured a degree apprenticeship with Barclays as a Technology Developer.
