Sandbach Town Council has come out in force to support the people of Ukraine following the Russian invasion.

The Town Hall is being lit up in blue and yellow at night -the colours of Ukrainian flag - to show the town's support for Ukraine.

Sandbach Mayor, Councillor Geraint Price Jones, said he was delighted that this initiative has been taken.

"The councillors as a group support the Ukrainian people and we can see from Social Media what people in the area think as well," he said.

"I believe we are all behind the people of the Ukraine and the staff have made this happen which is great!"

Sandbach Town Council said on their Twitter feed: "Many local businesses have included the colours of Ukraine's flag in their displays and are showing support in many wonderful ways.

"Sandbach Town Hall is proud to join the Community in showing solidarity with the people of Ukraine by lighting the venue exterior in blue and yellow."
