Sandbach United Football Club has heaped praise on one of its former players, Tara Bourne, who has been called up to the England U23 squad.

Tara Bourne, who started her career at Sandbach United, has been called up for games against Norway and Belgium.

Liz Clark, Sandbach United's Disability and Community Officer, said Tara was a brilliant role model for the club's ever-growing female teams.

She said: "Tara has been a massive advocate of what amazing opportunities a facility and club like ours has made to her career.

"She is a role model to our young players and gives them inspiration to believe "you can become a player".

"We are so proud of what Tara has achieved and what the future holds for her.

"She is still very loyal to her friends at Sandbach United and will always help where she can.

"We are so lucky to have her as a role model and friend."

Good luck Tara!
