Older people are set to get a boost – thanks to a Sandbach man who walked his age for Age UK.

Retired business training supervisor, Terry Hughes, walked on average of six miles a day near his Wheelock home.

The 71 year old, a member of Sandbach Footpaths Group, walked 12 walks, the longest being 10.8 and 11.3 miles to raise a bumper £175 - more than he originally thought when he posted on Social Media.

Terry walks every day and chooses places to holiday where he can enjoy long walks such as the Lake District and Northumberland.

He said: "I love walking and thought I'd do it for a worthy cause. It's great fun and has so many health benefits."

Terry is now planning his next big hike – a half-marathon walk start at Ullswater in the Lake District in September.

Sandbach Nub News wishes Terry all the best for 2022 and his fundraising walks which are helping him to keep in tip-top shape.
