Sandbach woman, 74, dies following collision with HGV on local bypass

Cheshire Police are appealing for witnesses and video footage, after a woman died in a fatal collision with a HGV between Sandbach and Crewe.

Shortly a 11.45am on Monday 16 December, police were called to reports of a collision on the A534 Haslington Bypass.

Officers attended the scene and found there had been a collision between a white HGV tractor Unit and a silver Vauxhall Crossland near to Wheelock Farm.

The driver of the car, a 74-year-old woman from Sandbach, sustained serious injuries as a result the collision and was taken to hospital and has since passed away (Nub News).

Sadly, despite the best efforts of all those involved, she has since passed away. Her next of kin are aware and they are being supported by specialist officers.

Detective sergeant Simon Degg, of the serious collision investigation unit said: "Enquiries in relation to this collision are ongoing and we're committed to doing all we can to establish what took place.

"The A534 is an extremely busy road and as part of our investigation we are keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what took place.

The collision involved a white HGV tractor Unit and a silver Vauxhall Crossland near to Wheelock Farm (Cheshire Police).

"The same goes for anyone with any dashcam footage which may aid our investigation."
