Car driver in hospital following 'serious' collision with HGV on bypass

A local bypass is closed following a two-vehicle collision, with a car driver taken to hospital with "serious" injuries.

On Monday 16 December, Cheshire Police received reports of an incident on the A534 Haslington Bypass on the outskirts of Sandbach.

Around 11.47am, emergency services arrived the scene, discovering a car and a HGV had collided with one another.

The driver of the car was taken to hospital with serious injuries (Google).

Following the assistance of an air ambulance, the driver of the car was taken to hospital.

The driver of the HGV was uninjured. Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing.

The A534 Haslington Bypass remains closed at the time while investigation work is undertaken.

A Cheshire Police spokesperson told Nub News: "At 11.47am on Monday 16 December, police were called to a collision on the A534 Haslington Bypass.

"Officers attended the scene and found there had been a collision between a car and a HGV.

"The driver of the car sustained serious injuries as a resulted the collision and they have been taken to hospital. 

"The driver of the HGV was uninjured.

The A534 Haslington Bypass remains closed at the time while investigation work is undertaken (Cheshire Police).

"Enquiries in relation to the collision are ongoing and the A534 Haslington Bypass remains closed at the time while investigation work is undertaken.

"Anyone with any information or video footage which may aid the investigation is urged to contact Cheshire Police on 101, or visit the website, quoting IML 1985880."
