Sandbach: Would-be candidates in May's local elections urged not to leave it too late
The deadline for the nomination of candidates for this May's local elections is fast approaching.
People hoping to stand for election in borough, town or parish polls this May have until 4pm on Tuesday 4 April to register their nomination with the Returning Officer at the council.
Would-be candidates in the 4 May local elections are urged to deliver their nomination papers in good time – and not leave it too late.
Returning Officer Lorraine O'Donnell said: "The deadline for the nomination of candidates is fixed by law. I would urge people, who wish to stand in the elections, to submit their completed forms at the earliest possible opportunity.
"That way, should there be any issues with the required paperwork, these can hopefully be sorted out well before the deadline of 4pm on 4 April."
The deadline for the withdrawal of any nominations is also 4pm on 4 April.
Completed nominations must be hand delivered to the council's Westfields offices, on Middlewich Road, Sandbach, between 9.30am and 5pm, Monday to Friday, and in advance of the 4pm deadline on 4 April.
The Electoral Commission website has valuable information about standing as a candidate.
Information about voting at these local elections is also available on the Electoral Commission webpages.
