Sandbach's Day of Dance is back and there could even be a Morris dancing side from the town.

The last time the event was held was in 2017 but yesterday (Saturday) the town was alive with Morris dancers everywhere.

And the event was such a success that it's set to be held next year and could be even bigger and better.

Twelve Morris 'sides' took part in the event dancing at a variety of locations from two place outside the Market Hall, the Cobbles and the Old Hall.

And the event was such a success that organisers are now considering getting Sandbach's own 'side' formed so they can dance next year.

The leading force behind the day was Sandbach Mayor, Councillor Ann Nevitt, who presented the winning side, Leominster Morris with a special stick.

The willow stick was decorated with a design of the Sandbach's Crosses by a local artist as we revealed here

Cllr Nevitt said: "The day went well and we're pleased everyone enjoyed themselves. It was very successful."

One of the volunteers Councillor Tim Wheatcroft said suggestions had been made to form a Sandbach 'side' and even take the idea further afield.

"There's no reason why we can't form a side in Sandbach and indeed in other towns," said Cllr Wheatcroft.

"There seems to be a lot of interest. It would be a good thing to do.
