A Sandbach school is closed to some of its students tomorrow (Monday) after a small fire broke out in a kitchen.

Years 7 – 10 and Year 12 at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College are having their lessons by Teams tomorrow (Monday) but exams at the school are going ahead as normal.

Nearby Sandbach Leisure Centre was closed on Friday (May 31st) following the fire but reopened on Saturday morning.

Sandbach Nub News told here how fire engines from Middlewich and Congleton, went to Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College at around 3.07 pm on Friday.

Headeacher at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College, Ellen Walton sent the following message to parents and carers: "Unfortunately there has been a small fire in the kitchen area of our canteen,

"The Fire Brigade did a brilliant job at putting it out but there is smoke damage and more significant fire damage to our kitchen.

"Exams will happen as normal. Year 11 and Year 13 will do their exams as normal on Monday. They should come into school as normal.

"Year 11s and Year 13s who have morning and afternoon exams can stay in school as normal. If students are reliant on the school bus to get home, they are welcome to stay in school and study.

"Please can students bring in a packed lunch as we will not have any dining facilities. School will be closed on Monday to Years 7 – 10 and Year 12 who will instead have their lessons via Teams. "

She added: "Our aim is to re-open to all students and staff on Tuesday (June 4th) however I will confirm that on Monday in an email to you all."
