Children at a Kenyan project have been given a massive career boost – thanks to a grant of around £48,000.
Colin Dalton from Wheelock, lead fundraiser of the Northwest based New Hope Support Group, has revealed how a new computer /science laboratory is a 'game changer'.
He says the project at Upland in Kenya will enable children to get equipped with vital IT skills to help them to get a job.
"An old building has been knocked down and a new computer/science lab is being built," he said.
"It's a game changer and will help break the cycle of poverty enabling children to gain computer training and qualifications and make them more marketable.
"We can't say where the grant has come from but we're very grateful for it."
Colin, who went out to Kenya last summer with his family to visit the area, is constantly raising funds for the project.
Last year, he and a group did a coast-to-walk as we revealed here , which bought bowls, cups, blankets and flasks which were presented to the children.
Every year, a fundraising disco is held at Sandbach School which again raises money for the project.
Recently Colin gave a talk to Sandbach Ladies Association which raised £120 and sixth formers at Sandbach School are raising money to fund a teacher as we revealed here
So impressed with a presentation about the project at the school that the head boy and head girl team decided to raise money to fund a teacher.
