Sandbach's world-famous brass band, Foden's, is celebrating after notching up yet another accolade.

The band, whose roots are in the town's legendary Foden truck company, secured their 25th North West Area title at the weekend.

It was the 7th consecutive title at the 'areas' beating the band's own previous North West area record of six titles between 2006 and 2011.

The band travelled to the Winter Gardens in Blackpool for the contest which saw brass bands battling against each other to clinch the title.

The UK is split into various 'regions' and the top two placed bands at each regional contest is invited to represent their 'region' at the National Finals, held at the Royal Albert Hall London in October.

A spokesperson for Foden's Band said: "The adjudicators announced Foden's as 'clear winners' and also awarded them the best bass section and principal cornet. This was Foden's 7th consecutive victory at this contest

"We are the current National Champions of Great Britain (a title we also won in 2021) and due to this received an automatic 'bye' to the October contest."

Foden's, who rehearse at Bradwall Village Hall on the outskirts of Sandbach, competed against 11 other bands at Blackpool performing the set test piece 'Red Priest' by Philip Wilby.

The piece contains quotations from, amongst others, 'The Four Seasons', and his well-known 'Gloria'.'
