A Sandbach school is holding a charity quiz night tomorrow – in memory of a design and technology teacher who died from a brain tumour.

The talented 47-year-old Kevin Gornall, who died last year, was a much-loved teacher at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College.

Tomorrow night the school will hold the event to raise funds for to raise awareness and funds for brain tumour organisations.

Mr Gornall was one of the driving forces behind the school's successful CAUC Electric Car, helping students to build and race their own car, inspiring them to work in engineering.

He often supported his students to enter science and technology-related national and international competitions, including those run by the Greenpower Education Trust, F1 in Schools and TeenTech.

Some of his students used the extracurricular work to support their applications to Arkwright scholarships, industry placements and degree courses in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.

And his work didn't go unnoticed for he was named as outstanding design and technology teacher in 2017 at the Design and Technology Association's Excellence awards.

A school spokesperson said: "Mr Gornall was a much-loved teacher and played a huge part in the CAUC (complete and utter chaos) car team."

And tomorrow (Friday) his work will be further honoured when the school holds a "chaotic charity" quiz night.

Teams of up to six people will be competing in the quiz which will raise awareness and funds in memory of brain tumour related charities.
