A Sandbach school is celebrating after being awarded around £1million of funding from the Department of Education.

Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College has been awarded the cash from the DfE's Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) 2022/2023.

Now the school is planning to use the money to put on a new roof and install new windows at the front of the Middlewich Road school.

Headteacher, Ellen Walton said: "So much brilliant work goes on inside the school we want to make sure the front reflects this.

"The money will allow us to make changes and install new windows at the front and a new roof."

The school is one of 1,129 academies, sixth-form colleges and voluntary aided schools nationwide who have shared £498 million of CIF funding in this latest round of funding.

A total of 1,405 projects across the country will now be completed thanks to the CIF funding, including the projects at Sandbach High School and Sixth Form College.
