Members of a girls' football team at Sandbach United are getting an energy boost at half-time – thanks to kind sponsors.

Gibsons' Greengrocer's & Deli in High Street sponsor U12 girls' team at Sandbach United Football Club.

Last year, Gibsons' bought the team new training equipment and clothing and this year they are supplying fruit at every match for the girls.

Emma Gibson, who owns Gibsons' with husband Chris, said they were delighted to make the move.

And she says it seems to be paying off because according to reports the girls are on tip-top form after half-time.

"It's difficult getting youngsters to eat fruit but this is one way we can help. People are saying they have noticed how well they play in the second half!"

Sandbach Nub News covered the story last year https://sandbach.nub.news/news/local-news/sandbach-deli-helps-keep-girls39-football-team-as-warm-as-toast of how the team are sponsored by Gibsons'.

The Gibsons' daughter, Bella, is member of the team, who let the shop know what type of fruit they would like to their half-time treat.

"It varies but satsumas and red and green grapes seem to be popular."
