A darts-loving Sandbach resident took a step down memory lane and relived some of his sporting memories when he enjoyed a trip to the town's SportsZone.

Elworth Grange Care Home resident, 81-year-old Jim Long, mentioned that he used to run a darts team and has always loved the sport.

And Jim got the chance to try his hand at his beloved darts during a trip to the sports venue in Ettiley Heath.

And as the photographs show, the sports-loving gentleman enjoyed every minute of his trip to the Moston Road venue.

Elworth Grange Care Home said: "After wonderful 1-1 conversations with two of our residents, we found out that one ran a darts team and one moved to Crewe from Liverpool to be safe from the bombings during the war, then later moved here to raise a family.

"So this led to 2, 1-1 trips to Sandbach SportsZone for game of darts a cool shandy and a game of pool and a trip down memory lane to Queens Park Crewe for a lovely stroll in the glorious sunshine and a ginormous ice cream. Times for reminiscing and making new memories"

SportsZone spokesperson, Charlie Chorlton, said: "It was a real pleasure to welcome these gentlemen to our family-friendly SportsZone for darts, pool and a refreshing drink.

"Hearing about the connection with darts, and the memories of running a team, and the incredible journey from Liverpool to Crewe during wartime, it was a reminder of how powerful shared conversations can be.

"A simple game of darts or pool can open the door to amazing stories, friendships and moments of connection.

"It was fantastic to be part of such a memorable visit, combining a little friendly competition with plenty of conversation, laughter and reminiscing."
