Fifty children enjoy free Halloween half-term holiday club fun after charity bike ride

Two members of Sports Coaching Group's - based in Cheshire - took on a daring cycling challenge to help fund holiday club places and raise awareness of MIND.

To kick off the Halloween fun this October Half Term, Emphasis Foundation has provided 50 free spaces at Sports Coaching Group's holiday club thanks to two of their coaches.

Tom Kesteven and Lucas Turner cycled 500 miles in five days this summer, visiting the 41 schools where the Sports Coaching Group currently delivers its services, across Cheshire, Staffordshire and Shropshire.

And this week, children are enjoying the fruits of their labour with places at the Sports Coaching Group's October half-term 'Hallowtheme' holiday clubs.

Tom and Lucas did the bike ride earlier this year to provide free holiday club places for children who may otherwise be unable to access enriching activities during the school holidays as well as raising money for the charity MIND in memory of former colleague.

They said: "It was a privilege to honour not only a former member of the team but a coach of ours growing up. Whilst raising funds for Emphasis Foundation and Mind Charity to two organisations sitting close to the heart of Sports Coaching Group.

"A real highlight was being able to see the impact SCG has within all of our partner schools. It's brilliant to see children enjoying our Hallowtheme holiday clubs, providing free spaces for children who may otherwise miss out on enriching activities.

"Thank you to everyone who donated, sponsored and supported us throughout the week enabling these free spaces and raising awareness of Mind."

Although the free places have gone, it's still not too late to join in the 'Hallowtheme' holiday clubs taking part all week from wonderful witches and wizards to Frankenstein's monster madness.

Children will be able to take part in a range of activities from sports and competitions to pumpkin carving, Halloween lantern making, mummy wrap relays, creepy crafts and trick or treat games.

For those with a love of cricket, there's a cricket specialist masterclass camp at Sandbach Boys School as well as both dance and cheerleading specialist days.

There's also plenty of sport specific activities lined up for children including dance, cheerleading and cricket masterclasses!
