Sandbach School headteacher, Sarah Burns, and governors have heaped praise on A–Level students who received their results today (Thursday).

Nearly a quarter of students at the Crewe Road School achieved the highest A*-A grades and over 55% achieved A*-B grades.

And the school says a record number of students are going on to study music at a range of Conservatoires.

Students have also been praised for their "remarkable resilience having dealt with uncertainty resulting from the pandemic as well as the pressure associated with external exams".

Mrs Burns said: "Staff and governors would like to congratulate Sandbach School sixth form students on the way they have conducted themselves and also thank parents for their continued support.

"The hard work that the students have demonstrated throughout the last two years has helped to ensure that students have coped well with significant disruption to their education and the longest ever exam series."

Head boy Joy Badger added: "There was a fantastic atmosphere in school this morning, with so many students receiving the grades they wanted for university.

"After the stress of the last two years, it has been lovely to see everyone in such high spirits again.

"I am personally looking forward to studying History and Politics at the University of Birmingham next year. "

Students from the school are going to a wide range of universities including Georgina Sealey who will be reading Physics at the University of Exeter, Patrick Foo is off to study Maths at King's College, London and Tom Franks will be reading Computer Science at Lancaster.

Joe Hodson and Regan Pendlebury have also been accepted on to degree level apprenticeships with Bentley.

The school's most notable achievements include, Joe Badger, Luke Dean, Thomas Franks, Joe Hodson, Archie Hopton, Lewis Newton, Archie Prodes, Edward Proudlove, Georgina Sealey and Ben Verbickas who achieved an impressive mixture of A* and A Grades.

Callum Levitt achieved a Distinction* for BTEC Business and James Milnes, Matthew Beech, Ryan Walker and Thomas McMorine also achieved the highest Grades for BTEC Sport.

"Hopefully more students will follow in their footsteps next year following the successful introduction of the Specialist Music Course which has links to the Royal Northern College of Music, " added a spokesperson.

"We would like to wish all of our students the very best as they embark upon the next stage of their lives."
