Students at Sandbach High School's Sixth Form College have had praise heaped on them for bucking the national trend in A-Level and applied level three results.

A school spokesperson said: "Our students can be very proud of what they have achieved with 17% of grades at A*, 39% A* to A and 60% A* to B or equivalent.

"We were delighted that seventeen of our students achieved exclusively A and A* grades and four achieved three A*s.

"We are also particularly proud of our success right across our subjects, including our applied qualifications where four students achieved double distinction stars.

"Year twelve also enjoyed great success today with outstanding results for a large number of our students in the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and Core maths."

"A-Levels and the equivalent technical qualifications are really challenging so for our students to have achieved so brilliantly and once again bucking the national trend is testimony to their dedication and also the fantastic teaching in our Sixth Form."

Students are now going on to a wide range of  places, including medicine at Oxford University, Liberal Arts at Durham, Physics at York, Chemistry with International Study at Birmingham, Law at the University of Law, Computing at Warwick and Spanish and English at Liverpool.

In addition, some students are taking up Higher Level apprenticeships with a variety of employers, including Astra Zeneca, Dyson, Barclays and Bentley.
