Tesco are accepting applications for Stronger Start Grants from groups who support children and young people.

Schools, sports teams, guides, scouts and other groups are all encouraged to apply.

The Tesco express stores in London Road, Holmes Chapel and Warmingham Lane and Wheelock Street, Middlewich, are all accepting applications.

There are just a few weeks to go before the close of this round of applications.

There are four quarterly rounds per year, each with first placed grant of £1500, second of £1000 and a third placed grant of £500, with placings decided by votes of Tesco customers.

Since 2016, Tesco grants have supported over 50,000 community groups with more than £100 million in grants.

The funding aims to make a positive difference to the local community.

Every three months, three local good causes are selected to be in the blue token customer vote in Tesco stores throughout the UK.

Applications are open to all local good causes but priority will be given to helping projects that support children's food security and health.

This includes those with a focus on providing food to pupils such as fruit for breakfast clubs or snacks to enjoy throughout the day and for equipment for outdoor and indoor activities.

Last week, the charity Wilmslow Youth were selected to receive £1500 grant which will go towards supporting young people, offering them well-being services, drop-in sessions and activities.
