Sandbach station is on track to celebrate 200 years of rail travel

The bunting is up, new plaques are in place, the display of flowers and plants are well watered and the pop up café will be open and the band will be playing
Sandbach railway station is ready to join the rest of the country in celebrating 200 years of rail travel on September 27th.
FOSS, the Friends of Sandbach Station, who plant and maintain the flowers and shrubs in planters on the platforms throughout the year, weed between the cracks and generally strive to keep the station as attractive as possible for the pleasure of travellers, have ensured that the town – and its station – are part of the nationwide celebrations on Saturday, September 27th.

Group chairman Christian Shawcross, said: "The highlight of the event will be a performance at 10.30 am of our acclaimed Fodens band so we are inviting anybody who would like to be part of the celebrations, not necessarily just the rail travellers using the station on the 27th, to join us to listen to the music, have a cup of tea or coffee and join the rest of the country in celebrating a milestone in British railway history."
