Traffic was temporarily halted on the M6 between the Sandbach junction 17 and junction 16 northbound this morning after a man was on the wrong side of the barriers.

Highway chiefs say there were delays of at least 45 minutes for motorists following the incident.

A spokesperson for Cheshire police said: "A man was on the wrong side over the barriers on a bridge over the M6. The incident was resolved without injury."
