Tree planted in Elworth for Queen's Green Canopy is moved after anger from residents
A tree planted in a Sandbach park as part of the Queen's Green Canopy has been moved after complaints from residents.
The tree was originally planted in the middle of the grass in Elworth Park but has now been moved to the back of the park between two benches near the Marsh Green Road entrance.
After an outcry from residents, the tree, an ornamental cherry, planted in the Queen's memory to mark her Platinum Jubilee, was moved to the back of the park.
Elworth town councillor, Nicola Cook, said she received a phone call from a resident living near the park saying a tree had suddenly appeared in the middle of the park.
"I phoned ANSA who had planted it and they called me back within 10 minutes and said they would move it," said Nicola who is also secretary of the Friends of Elworth Park.
"It just wasn't practical in the middle of the park which is used by families and children and would have been difficult to mow around.

"It's a compact tree and we're really pleased to have it but it wasn't the ideal spot to begin with. ANSA were quick to respond and we're all happy now."
Friends of Elworth Park hold regular clean-up sessions in the popular park and are now they looking at putting a plaque by the new tree to mark its importance.
The tree is part of the nationwide initiative created to mark the Platinum Jubilee and has now been extended to include the full tree planting season.
The tree was first planted in the middle of the grass in Elworth Pak
Over a million trees are being planted to create a living legacy in Her Majesty's name across the nation.
Sandbach Nub News has approached Cheshire East Council and ANSA for a comment on the Elworth tree planting.
