Two girls aged 12 and 13 were found safe and well in Manchester after a police helicopter was scrambled to find them last night (Tuesday).

Residents living in the Elworth area of the town reported hearing the NPAS helicopter overhead.

A spokesperson from Cheshire Police said: "At around 9.40pm on Tuesday 20 February, police were made aware of two missing girls, age 12 and 13, in the Moston area.

"Local officers, supported by NPAS, searched nearby areas. The two girls were located safe and well by GMP officers in the Manchester area shortly after 3am."
