Two people were taken to hospital after a car left the road in Elworth today (Tuesday), went through a hedge and crashed into the front of a house.

Bystanders watched in horror as the vehicle moved across the car park outside Middlewich Road Co-op at lunchtime before colliding with the front of a house.

The front windows of the house on the right-hand side of the Co-op were damaged and parts of the car were visible inside the hedge at the side of the house.

Marie Edgar, manager of Middlewich Road Co-op, said she was in the office around lunchtime when she heard a loud bang.

"We ran outside and could see a car had gone through the hedge. Two people were in the car and we helped them. It's just lucky no one was injured," she said.

"A car came off the road and collided with the front of a house. The two occupants of the car have been taken to hospital to be assessed."
