Two Cheshire East bin men have been caught littering while on their collection rounds in Sandbach.

A video taken on Tuesday morning (11 May) in an alleyway off Chapel Street in Wheelock shows the two refuse collectors taking pieces of wood and cardboard from a wheelie bin and throwing it onto the ground.

Andy Coppenhall, who caught the littering on his CCTV camera, described the incident as "fly-tipping" and said: "I was shocked considering who they were".

Bin collections across Cheshire East are run by Ansa, a council-owned and controlled company.

When Andy contacted the council about the incident, a council representative told him that what the refuse collectors did was not the "procedure".

An email from a council representative said: "I have reported your concerns to the waste department supervisors and requested that they send someone out to clear the waste."

Despite the assurance, the waste still remains where it was left by the refuse collectors.

A Cheshire East Council spokesperson said: "The council's environmental services company Ansa are looking into this matter and have begun an internal investigation."
