A village pub which hit the national headlines due to is stricit policies has closed again.

The Swan Inn in Holmes Chapel reopened in 2023 not only banning the use of mobile phones due to Samuel Smith's brewery policies but also saying that only 'well-behaved children were welcome'.

The news attracted national attention from national media including the Daily Mail who asked if it was 'the strictest pub in Britain' due to its ban on mobile phones, swearing and work clothes and only welcoming 'well-behaved children'.

Local claimed this discriminated against those with disabilities and were up in arms about the pub's strict rules but now it's closed again - less than two years after it reopened in the summer of 2023.

A message on Social Media from the landlords said: "It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that The Swan Inn has sadly closed its doors.

"This was not an easy decision but after much reflection Svetlana and I have decided that our health, family and well-being must come first.

"We are grateful for the understanding and support we have received from Samuel Smith Brewery during this process.

"Most importantly, we want to stress that this was our decision made with careful thought and consideration.

"We sadness and heartfelt thanks, Terry and Lana."
